IKEA GETS ‘CAN DO’ FROM CANTON, MICHIGAN AS HOME FURNISHINGS STORE ADVANCES WITH FINAL LOCAL APPROVALS
PLYMOUTH
MEETING, PA – IKEA, the world’s leading home furnishings retailer,
today expressed appreciation to the Canton Township [MI] Board of
Trustees who last night approved final plans for the future IKEA
Canton. The Planning Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA),
respectively on Monday and Wednesday nights last week, already had
approved plans for the first IKEA store in the Greater Detroit Metro
area and all of Michigan.
Pending remaining permits, IKEA could
begin construction in June, with a grand opening in Summer 2006.
Approximately 300 coworkers will join the IKEA family when the new
store opens.
The future IKEA Canton will be the 28th IKEA store in
the U.S., and fourth in the Upper Midwest, joining stores in:
Schaumburg, IL (opened 1998); Bloomington, MN (opened 2004); and in
Bolingbrook, IL (opening this Fall). ..”

I went to IKEA in Paris several years ago…fantastic!!! I love IKEA it’s unique design, colors, quality…and of course prices. I even applied for couple of job positions. Hopefully I’ll have chance to work there! Looking forward to it!

I’m so overwhelmed with the opening of the Canton store in June. I’ve informed my boss that I need the day off and she’s taking off as well to go accompany me. I’ve visited two stores in Illinois and one in D.C. Thanks IKEA for coming to Michigan. I’ve turned so many people on by just providing them with a catalor when I make my trip. I could nerver get enough of Ikea.
