IKEA-mania in Utah

“It’s news that is getting many Utahns very excited: Ikea might be on the
way.
If you don’t already know, Ikea is one of the hottest businesses in
the furniture business. And a possible move to Utah could be the worst-kept
secret around.
There has not been official confirmation yet, but the
Swedish home-furnishing giant has brought approximately 40 acres of land in
Draper near the I-15/Bangerter Highway junction. With the nearest Ikea outlets
located in Los Angeles and San Diego, this is welcome news to Utahns. And other
entrepreneurs are taking notice.
“We’d love to be able to capitalize on
Ikea coming to Draper,” said Eric Keck of the Wadsworth Development Group, which
is building a shopping center across the street from the Ikea property…”

“I post this as an homage to Ikea, as I hear that one shall be built in
Utah, finally. It’s about freaking time, people. You think the Swedes would’ve
thought to come here long ago…but Nooooooo…they have to go to New Haven and
Emeryville and everywhere else that isn’t here! Well, better late than never,
and I embrace Ikea with open arms. That is where this cool wooden dude is from,
by the way. I don’t have a name for him yet. I’m thinking Svengard.”
