Have a great weekend everyone. See you on Monday!

I came across your site while doing some searches on IKEA. I like your idea to “document how the world perceives IKEA, the brand and the lifestyle.”
I’m facinated by people’s perception of the company and how IKEA markets itself.
I work at the West Sacramento store, and I have to say that I have some mixed feelings. I think IKEA’s product lines have nice styles at affordable prices, but I’m not terribly impressed with the quality.
The work envirnoment is another story. I’ve written about it on my blog a little bit. IKEA really sells itself as a progressive, employee-centered company, but that hasn’t actually been my experience and it seems that employee morale is low in many sections of the store. Then again, there’s a lot of people who seem very happy to be working for IKEA, also.
I was just wondering if you had encountered similar views. Are most people’s impression of IKEA completely positive or is there a significant amount of disappointment from customers and employees?
Thanks.
Hi Gus,
Thanks for your comments. I’ve spoken with quite a lot of IKEA co-workers and as in any other company, they have a wide range of views. Most but not all are positive. Other IKEA-centric sites may offer even more opinions. Visit their LiveJournal and MySpace communities.
