Totally cool story about how social networking through Twitter saved the day for one IKEA customer. Story told by OzDJ (@OzDJ) on his Phlog and retold by LaurelPapworth on her Social Media Blog: the business of being social.
@OzDJ bribed @aDB with some IKEA food and instant karma to check on the stock.
Less than an hour later, @aDB posted a picture on TwitPic as evidence of available stock.
Social Networking for the WIN!
I actually saw these tweets go by in my twitter stream, (!!) and having witnessed the same on IKEAFANS on many occasions, I nodded and went back to work. The difference here is IMMEDIACY. Within an hour, OzDJ had posted this picture of said stock:
Now, THAT’s the power of social networking. I always knew IKEA fans are just the best kind of people there are! Now, proof.
There is an email circulating that appears to come from homeplanner@ikea.com which contains a virus – supposedly the Netsky worm. The email looks like this:
DO NOT OPEN THE ATTACHMENT. DELETE THE EMAIL IMMEDIATELY. This is not a legitimate email from IKEA – it is an email containing a dangerous worm known as Netsky.
Found reference to IKEA Dialogues on Minor Tweaks at IKEAFANS – hysterical! IKEA Anna is always fun, but Tom Bartlett give Anna a run for her money in 13 separate dialogues with Anna, and (hopefully) counting….
Anna:The IKEA business idea is: “We shall offer a wide-range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products at prices so low that as many people as possible will be able to afford them.”
We’re thrilled to announce that Positive Fanatics is coming back. After chatting with Armand about the future of Positive Fanatics and our commitment to the longevity of its position in the online IKEA community, we’ve agreed to take over and continue in the tradition of offering timely news on IKEA, information on store openings, events and sales, and other tasty tidbits about the store we all love – IKEA.
We don’t plan to change much, though we’ll be posting more frequently (like Armand was able to in the beginning) and focusing on the stories of IKEA fanatics – that’s YOU!
So, please…help us get off on the right foot! Do you have a story to tell? Photos to share? A complaint, grudge or just comments? Send them in! Let’s get this baby moving!
The Ikea Factor is a project created in hopes of creating a collective of ideas from anyone who thinks they can improve upon Ikea. Whether it be the designs themselves or the stores, everything’s up for grabs. What would Ikea be like if done through the eyes of the people who shop there?
Edit 2008: theikeafactor.blogspot.com no longer exists.
